The Ibex

Pour over glass decanter

Glass, so you watch the colour arrive.

Not out yet

These are production samples, photographed on a phone at the factory. Proper photographs, the full setup guide and a first-time video all land on this page when the piece ships. Scan the code again then and it will have changed.

The piece

A clear borosilicate body with a walnut collar where your fingers go, and a mountain pressed into the base that only shows itself once there is coffee in the glass. It serves the same purpose a fairness pitcher does on a tea table: everything brewed lands here first, so every cup poured from it tastes the same. That is the story of the piece — an object that makes you wait a moment longer before you drink.

How it works

Brew straight into it

Sit your dripper on the rim, or pour a finished brew in. The glass takes the heat.

Let it settle

Give it a moment. The colour gathers around the base and the mountain comes up through it.

Pour it out even

Everything in the decanter is one strength, so every cup you pour from it is the same.

Treated well

Do

  • Hand wash in warm water
  • Take the collar off before washing
  • Warm the glass before very hot liquid
  • Dry it upside down, collar apart

Don't

  • No dishwasher; the walnut will not survive it
  • Never on a flame or a hob
  • Not for the microwave or the freezer
  • Do not set hot glass on a cold stone counter

Kinship — The ibex holds the high ground where the ice never quite left. Named for the mountain sitting at the bottom of the glass.
